Plan Your Visit

TOUR EXPERIENCE

Tours begin with a short film at the Visitor Center, where guests can purchase tickets, browse exhibits, visit our gift shop, and type on the same kinds of typewriters Welty used. After the film, guests will take a guided tour of the Welty house, followed by a self-guided walk through the garden.

TIME COMMITMENT

Plan to spend about 90 minutes at the Eudora Welty House & Garden.

ACCESSIBILITY & PARKING

Parking is available on the street. There is a wheelchair ramp entrance on the west side of the Visitor Center. The Welty House does not have a wheelchair ramp and may not be accessible for people with limited mobility. Photos and a pre-recorded video tour are available for guests who are not able to climb the stairs or access the Welty House. The Garden has uneven terrain and may not be accessible to people with limited mobility. Please contact us if you have questions about accessibility or accommodations. We do our best to create an enjoyable and comfortable experience for all guests.

PHOTOGRAPHY

We encourage guests to take photos everywhere except inside the Welty House.

TIPS FOR FAMILIES

Guests with children under 10 may want to forego a house tour and enjoy our other free, self-guided activities: read a book from our gift shop or the Little Free Library on the side porch, walk through the garden, type on a typewriter, or browse our permanent and temporary exhibits. We also have several family-friendly events throughout the year, so keep an eye on our events calendar.
