Discover a writer in the making.

The One Writer’s Beginnings exhibit panel at the Eudora Welty House & Garden Education and Visitors Center shows a portrait of young Welty and a photograph of the author at work.

The Eudora Welty House & Garden inspires curiosity,
creativity, and connection with nature. The museum includes the historic Welty House, the surrounding garden, and the house next door, which serves as the Visitor Center.

All tours begin at the Visitor Center.
Here, guests will find the ticket desk, gift shop, restrooms, an introductory film, and exhibits that highlight Welty’s photography, early artistic ventures, family, and artifacts. A selection of Welty’s literary awards—including the Pulitzer Prize—are also on display. Rotating temporary exhibits explore Welty’s life and work.

It’s always free to explore the self-guided exhibits and interactive experiences at the Visitor Center, but for your health and safety, we are limiting the number of guests inside at one time, and asking visitors to make a reservation in advance. The Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
