What to Expect
TIMING
Field trips may be scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. Tuesday–Friday. Most field trips last about 90 minutes, but with advanced notice it may be possible to accommodate a slightly shorter or longer timeframe.
ACTIVITIES
The Eudora Welty House & Garden offers interactive educational activities for younger and older students. Scavenger hunts lead students through our museum exhibits and garden, while our typewriters offer the opportunity to practice writing with technology from another era. High school students can watch a short film on Welty’s life. You may also talk with staff in advance about leading your class in a story discussion or writing prompt.
THEMES & SUBJECTS
A tour of the Eudora Welty House & Garden can reach students of any grade level or subject area, providing them with a cross-curricular experience that covers several state standards. To ask about customizing your field trip to fit your lesson plan, email info@eudoraweltyhouse.com.
