The November Writer’s Studio & Salon is designed to give Mississippi writers a welcoming, creative space to write in community with their peers.
During the first three Saturdays of November, the Eudora Welty House & Garden will be open for community writing sessions from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Writers are invited to work collaboratively or independently in the Welty Garden or Visitor Center on their creative projects, and free coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be available.
No RSVP is required for the studio sessions.
On the third Saturday, to conclude the program, the Eudora Welty House & Garden will host a writer’s salon in partnership with the Mississippi Humanities Council Speakers Bureau from 2 to 4 p.m. The salon will be a discussion-based workshop led by Richelle Putnam, a graduate of Gotham Writers of New York’s Memoir and Fiction Certificate programs. She also holds diplomas from The Institute of Children’s Literature, the Open College for the Arts Advanced Writing Program, Writers Digest, and other accredited writing programs, and has received awards from Writers Digest, Writers Journal, Worldwide Writers, New Millennium, and more.
The salon will begin with a brief introduction in the Welty Garage. Attendees will then be invited to write independently or in small groups in the Welty Garden or Visitor Center before gathering again for a final group discussion and optional reading. This workshop is free and open to all ages, with coffee, tea, and light refreshments provided. However, due to limited space in the Welty Garage, we kindly ask attendees to RSVP.
