This spring marks 100 years since Chestina Welty hosted a graduation tea for her daughter in the Camellia Room of the Welty Garden—a gesture of love and recognition that Eudora never forgot. Inspired by that same spirit, we welcome you to the Welty Garden for a quiet celebration of beauty, connection, and creativity.
On Thursday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m., guests are invited to the Camellia Room in the Welty Garden to create a set of pressed flower bookmarks using blooms gathered from the garden that once drew Eudora in. Whether you're honoring a graduate, a mother, a mentor—or simply seeking a moment of beauty—we welcome you.

“Now, her [Chestina’s] garden filled all her daylight hours; in becoming her never-ending work, it became her solace... Our garden was a succession of bloom. It was changing and renewing itself every month of the year. It drew me into it, too.”
—Eudora Welty (from omitted memoir pages, quoted in One Writer’s Garden by Susan Haltom)
