An invitation to gather, listen, and be inspired.
Join the Eudora Welty Foundation at the Eudora Welty House & Garden on April 2 at 4:30 PM for the 2026 Bettye Jolly Lecture on the Welty House Front Lawn, presented in partnership with the Millsaps College Visiting Writers Series

Set among one of Jackson’s most beloved literary spaces, this year’s lecture features Pulitzer Prize–winning author Richard Ford. Ford will be joined in conversation by Suzanne Marrs, followed by audience Q&A—an opportunity to engage more deeply with the work and the moment.

This annual lecture series is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow.

In the event of inclement weather, this program will be held in the James and Madeleine McMullan Lecture Hall (Room 122) in the Selby and Richard McRae Christian Center on the Millsaps College campus.
[Click here to view an interactive campus map, with the Christian Center highlighted as Building 26.]

The Christian Center is located at 1701 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39202. Parking is available both in front of and behind the building.

As of April 1, the Lecture is still scheduled to take place on the Eudora Welty House Front Lawn.
Come be part of an afternoon that celebrates storytelling, community, and the enduring spirit of Eudora Welty.
