The 2022 Heirloom Plant Sale will begin at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, March 26, and will last until plants are sold, usually by noon—come early! This year's selection will feature actual propagates and seeds from the Welty garden as well as identical varieties of historic plants that grow there—including native and Indica azaleas, old-fashioned camellias, and flowering perennials from Welty's prose and era—many of which are no longer commonly available at commercial nurseries. This event, run by the Cereus Weeder garden volunteers, is the only annual fundraiser to directly benefit the Welty garden, and is offered in partnership with the Eudora Welty Foundation.
